The fifth year of THE FDH LOUNGE (which debuted January 14, 2007) starts in a big way this week with some of our favorite regulars and a big mix of content as always.
After The Opening Statements of The FDH Lounge Dignitaries and This Week in The FDH Lounge, we go to The FDH Lounge Pigskin Report with a look at Black Monday in the NFL. From there, our old friend Philly sports journalist Joe Staszak will be appearing to help us take a look ahead to the playoff journey of MVP candidate Michael Vick and the Eagles. We’ll also preview the NFC bracket as a whole as well as touching on the startling return of Cliff Lee to the Phillies.
Then, at the top of Hour Two, we turn our attention to the AFC side and the New York Jets specifically with our pal Evan Roberts, who broadcasts middays on the legendary WFAN in New York. He’ll also touch on the NBA, NHL and MLB doings for Big Apple teams as well as a subject he loves also, Big Time ‘Rasslin!
At the bottom of the hour, colleague Russ Cohen from The 21st Century Media Alliance and Sportsology comes in to report on his trip to the Winter Classic as well as the just-concluded world junior hockey tournament. We then embark on a long-awaited fun segment: breaking down the Mount Rushmore of every major American sports city. Our list, to be published here on the site this week, will be debated by our Dignitaries.
THE FANTASY DRAFTHELP.COM INSIDER then closes out the show with our NFL playoff fantasy draft. We recommend five or six owners drafting serpentine-style with point distribution as follows: 6 points per rushing/receiving TD, 4 points per passing TD, 1 point per every 10 yards rushing/receiving, 1 point per every 25 yards passing, 1 point per kicking PAT, 3 points per FG (with 1 additional point at 45 yards, 2 additional points at 50 yards and 3 additional points at 55 yards), 1 point per 2-point PAT by pass, 2 points per 2-point PAT by rushing or receiving, 6 points per special teams TD, 1 point per fumble recovery, 2 points per INT. The one part we’re changing up this year is the use of team positions rather than individual ones (i.e. “Indianapolis QBs” instead of “Peyton Manning”). We will draft 1 team QB, 2 team RBs, 2 team “receivers” (with points for WRs and TEs both counting), 1 team K and 1 team D/ST.
As always, we urge you to watch the show live (or listen if you’re on dial-up), but if you can’t catch this as it’s happening, you can always catch the FDH archives 24-7 right here or catch us on iTunes. Also, you can sample THE FDH LOUNGE VAULT, a compilation of our best interviews and roundtables, now every weeknight from 6-7 PM, also on SportsTalkNetwork.com.
