History Intrigue for January

By Rick Morris
Welcome to our fifth version of this new feature in The FDH Lounge, entitled History Intrigue.  We’re going to be flagging interesting-looking tidbits of a historical level.  While part of this is just going to come from general web surfing, many links each time are courtesy of Real Clear History, who does a great job aggregating for this topic just like all the others in the Real Clear brand.
We always work to be class acts in our own aggregation, so we’ll always give a mention of the site involved in the link.

January FDH Lounge News Nuggets

By Rick Morris

We’re adapting a segment that we have used on our show repeatedly in order to try to highlight some of the more intriguing news headlines going today.  We have also posted links here for geopolitical headlines in the past and we’ll work this into this theme.  Much like The FDH Lounge itself, we’ll try to keep it broad-based as far as what is catching our eye.

Pantheon 7/FDH Lounge 6th anniversary

By Rick Morris

To celebrate the 6th anniversary of The FDH Lounge, the program where “nothing is off-topic,” The FDH Lounge Academy of Arts & Sciences convened to vote for the 7th class of FDH Lounge Pantheon inductees.  From there, our 12 Mini-Episodes crowned the Best of the Best and brought the number of members in this exclusive club to exactly 100.

For the segments we put together, I want to thank my fellow Original FDH Lounge Dignitary Chris Galloway along with some good friends and Dignitaries who also sat in on the 6th Pantheon shows last summer: Anthony Petrone, Matt Petrone, Bob Glassman and Jon Adams.  In addition to Chris, I’d also like to single out my other Original Dignitaries in the fold: Senior Editor Jason Jones, Entertainment Editor Samantha Jones, Nate Noy and Tim Foust.

The many celebrity conversations that have been injected over a period of time, such as Bob Barker, Steve Perry and Tommy Lasorda (almost all of these having been booked by Steve Cirvello), have added notoriety to our record that we could not have anticipated during our first show on January 14, 2007.  From a marketing perspective for the future of the program, they are the most important element in terms of distinguishing what we can do and securing ever-brighter horizons.

To those who truly love the show, however, the entire fabric, the entire spectrum of what we do is unique and meaningful.  Our goal, in every segment, is to take a subject (or a few of them, as the case may be) and to make you feel like you’re listening to a conversation in an after-hours lounge with people who know what they’re talking about and who have fun in doing so.

The FDH Lounge Pantheon exemplifies this idea and it’s consistently one of the most fun concepts that we produce.  If you enjoy these segments half as much as we enjoyed putting them together, you’re going to have a blast.  Enjoy!
