On Episode #127 of THE FDH LOUNGE (Tuesdays, 7-10 PM EST on SportsTalkNetwork.com), our last one before our Christmas Week hiatus, we are so loaded with content that this week we must skip The Opening Statements of The FDH Lounge Dignitaries and This Week in The FDH Lounge, and head right into our initial conversation.
We start with our second in-studio visit from a man with one of the most interesting technology jobs in pro sports, Cleveland Cavaliers Director of New Media Sales Mike Maleski. Team owner Dan Gilbert is one of Mark Cuban’s closest friends in the NBA and the shared dedication to cutting-edge application of media tools manifests itself in areas such as a social network completely devoted to the team, Cav Fanatic. Last year, we found out how the team was leveraging its good fortune at the time and now, we find out perhaps a more interesting story: how the franchise is maintaining a connection with the fans they need through ultra-modern connectivity. From there, comedian/talk show host/media personality Adam Carolla comes into The Lounge to discuss his new book.
Just before Hour Two, we start to break down one of a number of panel discussions that are made possible by an influx of FDH Lounge Dignitaries tonight. The first of these is “Those Damn Hipsters with Kyle Ross” as our good pal Kyle pronounces judgment on a number of annoying hipster tendencies and helps define a number of them as well. Then, FDH Lounge Senior Editor Jason Jones has submitted his Top 75 Christmas Movies of All-Time and we know there will be some issues of placement that will draw strong reactions. Slightly past the bottom of Hour Two, we bring you some delicious, naughty fun: our overview of the “sleaze thread,” some of the wildest urban legends ever uttered about those who populate this wild subculture. We’re limiting this to ones that could be discussed on terrestrial broadcasts regulated by the FCC, but that still leaves us a ton of room for this panel to dissect in hilarious fashion.
At the top of Hour Three, we are pleased to bring in New York Post college sportswriter Lenn Robbins, an award-winning journalist who also covers boxing and the Olympics. On this night, we’ll talk over the top college football headlines as we move past the Heisman and into the bowl season and the top college hoops storylines with the all-important start of conference play just a few weeks away. Then, we explore the slippery slope of big-time MMA, where the temptations to borrow a few pro wrestling-style promotional tactics are always at hand. How far is too far in terms of taking steps to “do what’s right for business?”
THE FANTASY DRAFTHELP.COM INSIDER then closes out the show with our big NFL Week 15 preview. We remind you also to consult our fantasy – and non-fantasy – hoops guide, FANTASY HOOPS DRAFTOLOGY 2010. Click and enjoy! Also, remember that for your football needs, you should be using our FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFTOLOGY 2010 as your guide through the season, along with our weekly fantasy newsletter at The FantasyDrafthelp.com Blog – which, during the football season, has your list of which players to start each week.
As always, we urge you to watch the show live (or listen if you’re on dial-up), but if you can’t catch this as it’s happening, you can always catch the FDH archives 24-7 right here or catch us on iTunes. Also, you can sample THE FDH LOUNGE VAULT, a compilation of our best interviews and roundtables, now every weeknight from 6-7 PM, also on SportsTalkNetwork.com.
