FDH Lounge Show #42: January 14, 2009

By Rick Morris

The 42nd edition of THE FDH LOUNGE on SportsTalkNetwork.com (7-10 PM EST, Wednesdays) marks the exact two-year anniversary of the program’s debut. Formerly airing on Sunday nights, “The Great American Radio Show on Internet TV” takes great pride in covering the widest possible array of topics that can be found anywhere.

In Hour One, immediately after The Opening Statements of The FDH Lounge Dignitaries, we give you a taste of exactly what that means with an intriguing piece of history. We will revisit a classic interview with the man in charge of the excellent geopolitics site The Long War Journal, Bill Roggio, from our second-ever broadcast on January 28, 2007. Bill had just returned from one of his embed tours of Iraq and was giving us the low-down on the situation and previewing the upcoming surge. The Dignitaries who questioned him had their own thoughts on the surge and what was at the time a very bad situation in Iraq and the conversation is all the more interesting in light of what transpired in the past two years. We were very proud of that interview and viewing it through the prism of today’s situation makes it that much more intriguing.

In Hour Two, we welcome back one of our original Dignitaries, Nathan Noy, for a review of the political scene since our first broadcast. The longest presidential campaign in American history was just getting fired up when we first came on the air and it’s set to climax next week with the inauguration of a new president. We’ll retrace the events of the last two years and then Nate will stick around for The FDH Lounge Pigskin Report as we dissect the end of the college football season, the ongoing NFL Playoffs and the front office and coaching moves that are shaping next year’s league.

With our new Wednesday format, Hour Three is given over to two “show within a show” segments as our former FDH Wednesday night programs are absorbed into The Lounge mothership. On THE FANTASYDRAFTHELP.COM INSIDER (9-9:30 PM EST), we bring you our fourth annual fantasy tennis mock draft, which brings together the top stars from the men’s and women’s circuits. The very wonderful Pat Davis from Most Valuable Network joins us for the second consecutive year for this event, as do some of our FDH niche sport analysts, Jon Adams and Mike Vili. Then, on THE GOON SQUAD (9:30-10 PM EST), we are joined by Russ Cohen of Hockeyology for his first-person account of this year’s Winter Classic, which was a roaring success.

Truly, we defy you to find a program anywhere else with this type of depth and variety. We are humbled by your support through our first two years and we promise you so much more where that came from – so much more!
