We are one week away from the inauguration, and it couldn't come soon enough. No, not for the same reasons everyone else does, but so we can end this constant love affair with Barack Obama.
For example, Ben & Jerry's has come up with their new inauguration and Obama-themed ice cream, "Yes Pecan". Get it? It's a play on words, just like "Cherry Garcia"! The ice cream features "amber waves of buttery ice cream with roasted nonpartisan pecans." That is why I'm glad that I leave near a Dairy Queen and Baskin Robbins.
Another example comes from Minor League Baseball. Minor league teams attempt to out-due each other with amusing promotions. On June 23rd, the Brooklyn Cyclones, the New York Mets Class A affiliate, will be introducing Barack Obama Bobblehead Night. That night, the team will be renamed the "Baracklyn Cyclones", and will feature many other presidential-themed promotions throughout the evening.
I want to gouge my eyeballs out with an icepick. Not only are the promotions stupid, but they are corny. Back to the ol' drawing board, I say.
