The 52nd edition of THE FDH LOUNGE on SportsTalkNetwork.com will be slightly abbreviated tonight as we go from 7:30 to 10 PM EDT, ceding our first half-hour to an extra-long WrestleMania preview edition of our lead-in, PRO WRESTLING INSIDER. In the spirit of WrestleMania week, however, we’ve got our own material on the subject.
After The Opening Statements of The FDH Lounge Dignitaries and our look at This Week In The FDH Lounge, we start first, though, by examining some world and national events over the past week. From President Obama being besieged by potheads during his online chat last week to the chaos of the G-20 summit in London this week to the firing of an American CEO by the American chief executive, what the heck is going on in the world right now? Also, what are the chances we get another good racial gaffe when Britain’s Prince Philip meets Obama?
Then, in Hour Two, we seek out some voices of enlightenment about current national events and they are coming from … the world of professional wrestling! Really! Forget what you thought you knew about the people who inhabit this industry, because they are providing very cogent analysis about the present crisis and government’s responses to it. We’ll then segue to the industry itself as we examine WrestleMania 25, the uneven storylines leading up to it, and why so many who enjoyed the 1980s and 1990s boom periods remain resistant to this product.
Just before the start of Hour Three, THE FANTASYDRAFTHELP.COM INSIDER returns with a very unusual look at how to obtain value in your draft or auction. We’ll also take a peek at some late-spring injury considerations. We need to remind you as always that if you still have your draft or auction upcoming that you absolutely should have a copy of our FANTASY BASEBALL DRAFTOLOGY 2009 guide with you. Part I of The Insider starts early because at 9 PM EDT, we welcome in ESPN Host and Reporter Jeremy Schaap, who is working on an ESPN E:60 feature about WrestleMania that will air April 14. How is the piece coming together? We’ll get a sneak peak, then return to the fantasy baseball talk until the bottom of the hour.
Then, on THE GOON SQUAD, we look at two big surprises: Bemidji State in the Frozen Four and the Vancouver Canucks surpassing our wildest expectations. We’ll also get a handle on the rapidly solidifying playoff picture.
It’s going to be a great program and we hope you can be a part of our audience. As always, we urge you to watch the show live (or listen if you’re on dial-up), but if you can’t catch this as it’s happening, you can always catch the FDH archives 24-7 right here.
