FDH Lounge Show #35: August 17, 2008

By Rick Morris

Today’s 35th edition of THE FDH LOUNGE on SportsTalkNetwork.com (2-5 PM EDT, rebroadcast in the usual time slot of 8-11 PM EDT) will have more of the innovative programming you have come to expect from the FDH family.

We lead off the show with a special treat: an interview from Beijing with Eric Gold of SportsNetwork.com, who is covering the Olympics for his employer, an outstanding sports wire service. He’s been at Ground Zero for all of the big stories of the first half of the Summer Games, from Michael Phelps’ unprecedented run of dominance to the Redeem Team’s thrashings of foreign pretenders to the gymnastics and track and field events. He’ll deliver his firsthand perspective on the far-reaching events we are witnessing from China.

From there, after The Opening Statements of The FDH Lounge Dignitaries, we review the efforts of one Midwestern sportswriter to get himself over at the expense of ESPN sweetheart Erin Andrews. Has he no shame? Then, STN President Paul Belfi will have a mystery caller on the line and he refuses to divulge any details about her -- not even to me!

In Hour Two, and well into Hour Three, we examine our proposal for the NBA to hold the “Ultimate Hoops Tournament” every summer. In one fell swoop, The Association can tighten up their too-long regular season and make up the revenue with what might be the most thrilling athletic tournament in the world. We’ll show how that can happen and you certainly should read about it also right here on The Lounge Magazine at the above link.

Towards the end of the show, Paul Belfi and I will preview tonight’s Summerslam liveblogging here on The FDH Lounge Multimedia Magazine. Just think: you can listen to the replay of The Lounge while simultaneously reading our coverage of “the hottest night of the summer.” Does life get any better than that?
